Current B.C Vape Laws 

Hey Everyone in this Post I would like to discuss the changes that took place in the Vape Industry in 2020 in regards with the New B.C Vape Laws and the New Federal Regulations being proposed by the Government. which will be Canada wide.

If you are a Resident of British Columbia and Vape you are probably already aware of the new regulations put forth by the B.C Government and if you are new to Vaping we will be going over all the changes and a quick breakdown of the new Regulations.

• No flavors to be sold anywhere that is not an Adult Only Store Licenced to Sell Vapour Products (This means No sale of any flavored vape products in Gas Stations and Convenience Stores except for Menthol and Tobacco)
• Cap of 20 MG of Nicotine on all E-Liquid
• 30 mL Volume Restriction of E-Liquid
• Plain Packaging for all Juice, Devices and Disposables
• 2mL Tank Restriction ( No tank can be larger than 2mL)

The New Laws were Implemented on September 15 2020 and only done so in the Province of British Columbia. Recently the Federal Government is also Introducing similar Regulations suppose to roll out Mid 2021.

 Proposed New Federal Vape Regulations (Canada Wide)

This ban will eliminate all low-power, simple vaping devices as viable options to quit smoking. With a nicotine cap of just 20mg/ml, users will require larger, less practical devices which produce significantly more vapour in order to obtain the same dose of nicotine provided by cigarettes.

Our provincial and federal governments are choosing to ignore the science and impose heavy taxes and restrictions on vaping products, removing their effectiveness in harm reduction for smokers.

Studies have shown that e-cigarettes are around 95% less harmful than tobacco (UK), and it has long since been proven that the EVALI lung illnesses and deaths of 2019 were caused by black market cannabis products (CDC). More than 30,000 Canadians die each year from smoking-related illness, and tobacco is the #1 cause of all preventable disease and death in this country (Canada). Billions of dollars are also spent on healthcare costs annually as a direct result of tobacco use.

This new policy will encourage vapers to return to tobacco, and create further barriers for anyone seeking safer, healthier alternatives to smoking.

Whatever your thoughts are on vaping and high-strength vaping products, I implore you to oppose Health Canada's proposal. If Health Canada is serious about deterring youth from nicotine addiction, they should treat all nicotine and tobacco products the same as cannabis and alcohol. Limit access to age-controlled locations and delivery methods. This would significantly reduce access to children while still promoting harm reduction for the millions of smokers across Canada.

This policy will hinder tobacco users transitioning to the far less-lethal alternative of vaping. It will also force many former smokers to return to tobacco products in order to obtain the nicotine levels they need to fulfill their addiction. It is not a responsible solution to preventing nicotine addiction among youth, and stands against Health Canada’s commitment to improve the lives of all Canadians and make effective use of our public health care system.
